Advantage does “Whatever it Takes” to educate the South Shore area on
energy-saving products and tips for the home heating season
The leaves are hissing a dry rustle and the air is growing chillier;
winter is just around the corner. And with the U.S. Department of
Energy predicting natural gas and heating oil prices to rise as much as
50 percent this season, now is the time for homeowners to address
rising home heating costs and to integrate winterizing tips to conserve
energy.
Advantage, a local dealer of Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems, is
committed to the community and will do “Whatever it Takes” to educate
consumers and provide cost-effective, energy-efficient solutions.
We’re proud to introduce a brand-new line of 90-percent variable-speed
furnaces that can lower utility costs up to 30 percent-or up to $700
per year-when compared to less-efficient systems previously seen in the
industry. Bryant’s new Plus 90i™ Evolution™ System furnace, which
combines gas and electric mechanics, has an Annual Fuel Utilization
Efficiency rating (AFUE) of up to 96.6 percent, making it Bryant’s most
enhanced line of gas furnace products.
“It makes sense to invest in high-efficiency furnaces,” said Nitish
Singh, senior product manager for 90-percent gas furnaces. “The
up-front investment will pay off as homeowners see the energy costs
savings year after year.” The Plus 90i Evolution System furnace has a
lifetime expectancy rate of 20 years, and homeowners can expect to save
up to $14,000 in energy costs over the life of the product, Singh added.
Users can also benefit from features such as Bryant’s exclusive Perfect
Light Igniter™, a hot-surface igniter that saves fuel that would be
wasted by a continuous pilot light, and Perfect Heat™, which enables a
furnace to switch from low- and high-heat modes depending on outdoor
temperatures.
Hybrid Heat™ systems, like Bryant’s Evolution™ Dual Fuel Packaged Heat
Pump System with Puron® refrigerant, are also a smart way to conserve.
The system’s heat
pump provides energy-efficient comfort down to about 40 degrees
Fahrenheit. Then, when temperatures dip below 40°, the dual-fuel system
automatically switches to gas operation for increased efficiency.
And for those accustomed to oil as their home-heating method, check out
Bryant’s variable-speed oil furnaces; they burn oil more efficiently
than previous models with an expected savings of about 30 percent,
according to Jonathan Payne, senior product manager for oil furnaces
and boilers.
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and
Renewable Energy notes that air leaks cost homeowners a surprising
amount of money, so be sure and winterize your home before chilly
weather arrives. Remember to have a heating professional from Advantage perform a routine check on your heating system. Also
be sure to:
-
Schedule a professional to inspect and clean the chimney
-
Vacuum vents and other heating components
-
Replace furnace filters
-
Seal leaks around doors and windows
-
Add or replace worn weather-stripping around doors and windows
-
Caulk gaps where needed
-
Insulate! Focus on crawl spaces, basements, walls, floors and attics
-
Consider replacing old windows with newer, more energy-efficient models
